About Us

Johan Closet Solutions was born from a custom furniture business, Johan Woodworking, established in Bend in 2001. Founder, Erik Johan Wadenstierna, began his woodworking journey after purchasing a 1969 wooden sailboat in the early 90’s that no one should have been selling in the first place. As restoring began, Erik observed an incredible array of poorly constructed, poorly engineered, and poor usage of space in furniture. Armed with a variety of hand tools and machinery and a fiance, he turned his woodworking passion into an income by building furniture. Designing and constructing hundreds of pieces of furniture gave Erik a thorough knowledge of the three basic elements of design; space, form, and function. It wasn’t long before he translated his skills to closets systems. Perhaps this kind of schooling is more comprehensive than the standard one week training seminar most franchised closet companies offer.
